Our story

Founded in 2020 by our Director and then Support Worker James Melton-Royal, JMR Healthcare was started as a self-employment venture to allow James to not have to work away whilst continuing to do the work he loved – supporting Children and Adults with learning needs, autism and mental health conditions.

By Late 2020, James had started to reach the capacity of his own work schedule, so JMR Healthcare started to grow by recruiting Agency Support Workers to keep up with the significant demand JMR now faced. James remained very strict about the recruitment process and levels of staff pay from day one. Steadfast with keeping the quality of care that he had been providing and to keep staff morale as high as possible.

Since being founded, JMR Healthcare has prided itself on its ability to provide world class caring outcomes to some of the most challenging and vulnerable circumstances. JMR has grown dramatically, but sustainably, into one of the most comprehensive healthcare entities in the East of England, both in literal size and caring capability. Boasting bespoke Ofsted Residential Facilities, Family Support and Temporary Staffing services – our own in house accredited training team with state of the art training room facilities in both Norwich and Colchester, and renowned Crisis Management Service – proudly capable of mobilising a fully care managed community care package within 48 hours of referral.

Managing Director

Since the age of 18, James has progressed his career rapidly working with Children and Adults with severe learning needs and challenging behaviour in the community, residential and secure settings. Founding JMR Healthcare in 2020, James started providing his extensive skillset to care providers and soon gained traction and demand for him to replicate his level of care in other staff.

A driven and motivated individual with a proven track record of starting and developing services, effective people management and meticulous strategic planning to facilitate the rapid growth JMR Healthcare has and continues to achieve.

A huge advocate of positive workplace culture, James works tirelessly to create environments where people flourish and pushes for proactive performance recognition schemes for all.

Robert Peduto
Head of Operations

Rob has worked in the Health & Social Care Sector since 2009 and has worked across nearly every speciality you can imagine. Services that Rob has managed have included the Acute (Medical), Community (Medical), Mental Health (Secure and Community), Neuro Rehab and Health & Justice settings. Rob has also worked as a performance and information analyst within the NHS and has also been entrusted with CQC Registered Manager status for multiple services.

During 2021, Rob took the decision to focus on the recruitment aspect of the Health & Social Care Industry and developed new and progressive methods in securing new candidates and clients but missed the operational aspect of overseeing Services & Operations.

Rob joined JMR Healthcare in early 2022 as the Recruitment & Service Manager allowing us to exploit and utilise all his skills and experiences. In 2023 Rob was promoted to Head of Operations, overseeing multiple facets of the business. He is methodical and has ridiculous attention to detail.

Senior Residential & Crisis Manager

Abbi joined JMR in 2022 as our Team Manager for our Crisis Management Service & has since been promoted to Registered Manager for the Crisis Management Service. With 8 years experience in the Health & Social Care Sector from Support Worker to Team Manager, Abbi has been able to, in a short period of time, put her stamp on the Service and play a huge part in its significant growth. Abbi is now leading a team of over 100 staff and managing multiple care packages whilst ensuring the highest level of quality and assurance for both her valued staff and service users. Abbi was looking for an employer who would support her in her career aspirations and we were delighted to be able to oblige. We are excited to see how Abbi’s career at JMR progresses in the coming years!

Laura has over 20 years’ experience in the care sector, ranging from Health Care in the community to Social Care and Mental Health with both children and adults. Over the years, Laura has gained a wealth of knowledge whilst specialising in complex health needs, positive behaviour support, Autism and The Mental Capacity Act.

With an ethos strongly intertwined with person centred care, Laura is a driven individual, firmly putting the needs and best interests of the young people we support at the forefront of everything we do.

J’nae has been in the health and social sector since the age of 17 initially in a nursing home, elderly care and dementia setting, senior support worker through to a crisis coordinator for young children. J’nae has accomplished a large skillset within this time, across a variety of roles. A self-motivated, enthusiastic, and professional individual. J’nae thrives on helping others through putting her knowledge and expertise in to practice and delivering this efficiently.

J’nae has achieved many qualifications through her working carer and has a wealth of knowledge behind her. In particular she has achieved her Train the Trainer qualification and completed her NVQ’S. J’nae strong points are innovative communication skills and “Leading by Example” motto. She can demonstrate this through many techniques as such; effective communication and training.

Sophie has 4 years’ experience working within the health and social care sector. She prides herself on having fantastic people skills.

Sophie started at JMR in September 2023 as a Junior crisis coordinator – using her plethora of knowledge and experience to help place our highly trained staff at packages best suited to their skill set.

Registered Manager Essex

Diane has extensive experience in a multitude of areas including mental health and emergency situations. This includes engaging regularly with Children and Young People known or vulnerable to become victims of abuse or criminal exploitation.

Diane is gifted in keeping peace, mediating tense situations, and offering both advice and reassurance to individuals within our care. She understands the importance of multi-agency working with key professionals in the young people’s lives.

Diane approaches each situation with alertness, compassion, and concern. She is organized, empathetic, and dependable with a willingness to take on added responsibilities to meet team goals.

She has now taken up the role of Registered Manager for our Crisis team in Essex.

Michelle Smith
On Call Night Operative

Through Michelle’s 30 years’ experience working within the health and social care sector, she gained much knowledge and understanding in most aspects of supporting people of all ages and varying degrees of learning or physical disabilities, complex behavioural needs, mental health including clinical health needs.

Her experience includes working as a support worker up to Director level and part of several senior management, regional and operational roles including working as a Registered Manager on three occasions.

Michelle is skilled in working directly with individuals with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Dementia, Mental Health and many other conditions. She supports professional development and positive team approaches to challenges and her experience has been in a variety of settings including Secure Settings, Community, Residential Care Homes, Respite, Supported Living, Outreach, Study Centres and Domiciliary Care.

Her focus has always been to enhance, develop, and maintain the quality of service provided by adopting and promoting a positive and inclusive approach with all involved.

Michelle has been a key implementer with improving quality, productivity, growth, and holding additional qualifications: IOSH, Vocational Assessor and skills as Care Consultancy and Quality & Compliance Auditor.

Emmy has 7 years’ experience within Health and Social Care, starting her career at 18 as a Support Assistant for individuals with complex physical, learning, and mental health needs. Emmy’s strengths include communicating with individuals who are non-verbal/have limited communication, safeguarding, epilepsy and building strong professional relationships.

Within the last year she used her experience and knowledge to further her career and worked in management, managing four services with three being CQC regulated and one supported living service.

These services included young adults which is where she thrived and loved watching and supporting the young adults to become as independent as possible – encouraging choices to empower them and watch their confidence grow ready to achieve their various goals such as independent living, building relationships/having families and landing their dream jobs.

Emmy has a passion for supporting individuals and is excited to carry this passion with her into JMR.

Richard has 29 years’ experience working within the care sector, initially as a Support Worker through to more senior roles – Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, and Regional Services Manager. Achieving three new service provision setups, one of which achieved an Outstanding rating with CQC after the first 3 years, evidenced by improvements with people’s lives, compliance, and motivated staff teams.

Richard is incredibly passionate about making positive changes to enable service users to enjoy life to full potential – enabling independence, social and life skills which in turn reduces behaviours of concern and motivates the team to strive for new, progressive goals. Continuing building positive and professional work ethics, and strong, enthusiastic, dedicated staff teams by recognising and acknowledging good work and identifying support, mentoring those requiring additional support to remain a valued team member.

Louise is the Registered Manager at one of our residential children’s homes, Pear Tree Cottage. She works hard every day alongside an excellent team of staff, which aided the home to achieve an Ofsted ‘good’ rating in February 2023.

A true team player striving to give our young people the best in life, offering them a bright future, using a person-centred approach, and teaching invaluable independence skills. Louise is currently completing her NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management to expand her knowledge and understanding within the setting.

Deputy Manager

Branton is the Deputy Manager at our Ofsted registered Residential Children’s home in Thetford. He strongly believes in the JMR person centred approach to care, which not only puts the young person as the focus of the care provision, but also emphasises the important of outcome-based care planning.

He works with the ethos that no young person is beyond his ability to support and there are no behaviours too challenging to manage. Branton has worked in the Health and Social care sector since 2016 in various roles including as a trainer in a secure hospital.

Branton gets satisfaction from the success stories of young people leaving care and going on to live independent, self-actualised, and fulfilled lives.

Bailey started her career within the health & social care sector in 2015, working initially with adults with learning disabilities within forensic secure services and she soon progressed into a senior role supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and a mental health diagnosis, within residential and secure settings. Bailey has used her experience to support her within roles in healthcare recruitment where she has worked as a recruitment consultant, divisional manager and is now managing the temporary staffing division and recruitment teams at JMR Healthcare.

A passionate manager and recruiter in the health and social care sector, providing tailored recruitment solutions with a focus on quality and integrity. With years of on-the-ground experience in mental health, learning disabilities and children’s services, I’m always ready to help you find the perfect staffing solution.

Donna has been in the care industry for 11 years, starting her journey at 18 years old as a Community Care Worker. Donna gained her NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 5 in Health and Social care. She went on to become a manager for a home care company. Donna had a baby and decided she wanted to spend more time focusing on family life and being at home on the weekends with her son.

JMR welcomed Donna in September as a part of the Recruitment team. Donna’s extensive health care experience assists her in recruiting the most knowledgeable and experienced Support Staff to support our service users.

The man with the plan – and the beanie! Ben began his healthcare journey in 2021, starting in domiciliary care where he gained a plethora of experience and quickly became a Senior Carer – focusing on staff training and paperwork compliance. He then wanted to specialise in mental health and began supporting individuals in the community as a Mental Health Support Worker.

Ben then joined JMR Healthcare in October 2022 as our Recruitment Consultant. Using his sturdy background in healthcare, he was the first point of call for our exceptional new staff members. Supporting them throughout the onboarding process before signing them off to our Agency and Crisis team to change lives!

Now Ben has taken on the role of Media & Marketing Officer. Supporting the leadership team in promoting JMR and the esteemed services we provide.

Gemma has spent 13 years working in the police where she did a variety of roles. This including being a personal safety trainer teaching student officers about law and legislation around the use of force and how to deal with confrontational situations. Her love for training bought her across to JMR as an in-house trainer. She has coached football at several different levels since she was 14 years old and loves to help people to develop

Peter Mahoney
Head of Finance

Peter may be compact but he is not short of experience. Brought up in Essex and having graduated from the UEA, Peter trained in the late 80s as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young. He has worked in various industries; most notably in the aviation sector with KLM UK Engineering Limited for 20 years, including 15 years as Finance Director.

Following this he became the Finance Director for SealSkinz; a well-known outdoor clothing brand.

Peter has 3 almost grown-up children, is a trustee and cross-country coordinator for City of Norwich Athletics Club. He likes to cycle to work, stay fit, play and coach badminton, and occasionally competes in endurance events.

Working for JMR Healthcare is his first foray into healthcare and he recognises the need for a well-run finance function contributing to stability across the group.

After 6 years of working in retail, Karina gained an abundance of customer service experience, followed by a successful business apprenticeship in 2021 within the construction industry. Karina then found her love for accounting and after 3 years of experience in the field, is now working towards the professional AAT qualification.

Karina began working for JMR Healthcare in April 2023 as a Finance Assistant and has quickly become the first point of call for all payroll queries. Supporting the business-critical tasks and using her experience and positive can-do attitude to maintain excellent communication and relationships with clients and staff.

Finance Assistant

The newest addition to the Finance Team at JMR Healthcare. A postgraduate from the University of Lincoln, class of 2021 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Finance. Jack began his career with JMR Healthcare as a Finance Assistant, paving the way for a career within his chosen field.

Prior to working with JMR, Jack worked in hospitality for most of his working life – working at a 5-star resort, and quickly progressing into the management team. Jack’s move to management opened new opportunities for development in the workplace, such as employee management, working close with staff to support their mental health in the workplace, and ensuring everyone starts and finishes the day with a smile on their face.

Jack’s new role with JMR consists of providing Financial Strategy, management, and planning – but also to provide a happier, positive workplace.

Ashlyn joined in JMR Healthcare in July 2023 as Head of HR to review the HR offering and develop a people strategy to support JMR and its staff.

She holds a post graduate equivalent HR Qualification in Strategic HR Management and has worked as an HR professional in Private, Public and 3rd Sector organisations. She is a solution focused HR leader with over 13
years’ experience covering all aspects of HR including strategic HR leadership, HR systems implementation, organisational change management , HR training, and managing complex employee relations cases.

She is passionate about creating intentional workplace cultures to support sustained growth by streamlining HR processes and aligned HR policies to core values and strategic objectives in order to create environments where employees are supported and able to thrive.

Courtnay started her professional career in the legal sector, specialising in Public Law Care proceedings, representing parents in complex and emotional cases throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.

Keen to continue developing, Courtnay moved into Human Resources in 2022 and joined JMR Healthcare in October 2023, bringing her culmination of skills, knowledge, and experience to our HR Department.

Jeannie has worked in Health & Social Care for more than 20 years, in a variety of support and managerial roles.

Jeannie now puts her vast experience to unbelievable use, heading up our in-house well-being service as our Well-Being Lead. Her role is designed to be available for our staff team when they really need support and guidance. The work they conduct daily can produce many challenges, and can have a significant impact on their physical and mental health should this not be supported, so, Jeannie is there to support them, answer questions and point staff to our support partners where applicable.

Janka joined JMR Healthcare in January 2024 as Quality and Assurance Manager to support JMR to progress our underlying ethos of providing world class caring outcomes to the most vulnerable in society.

She is passionate about delivering high quality services for vulnerable individuals and creating cultures that enable and drive excellence. She is experienced in leading change and service improvement, particularly though stimulating collaboration, and driving evaluation.

She has 8 years’ experience as a senior leader in the delivery of welfare, support and healthcare in Charity and Private organisations. In addition to a PhD and two Masters, she holds qualifications in Governance, Management and Health and Safety. She is a member of The Corporate Governance Institute, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and the UK Evaluation Society.
